61 Nepalis rescued from Libya; 47 still stranded.
Sixty-one Nepali migrant workers held by their employer in north African nation Libya have been rescued and brought to Nepal. 47 others are still held in Libya.21 of them arrived in Nepal on Tuesday and 40 others arrived on Wednesday. The stranded Nepali migrant workers were rescued with joint efforts from Foreign Employment Promotion Board (FEPB), International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Nepali embassy in Cairo, Egypt.

Nigeria, Libya mend diplomatic ties.
Nigeria and Libya are currently in the process of mending their diplomatic relations , Col. Muammar Ghaddafi’s call that Nigeria be split first along religious lines and later along ethnic cleavages.The countries are now to immediately normalise diplomatic relations with the designation of ambassadors to each country within 14 days.In seeking the new rapprochement, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy of President Goodluck Jonathan, Odein Ajumogobia, conveyed a special message to Gaddafi by the close of last week.The minister, according to a statement at the weekend by his Special Assistant on Media Affairs, Mrs. F.B Mohammed, was received in Tripoli by the Libyan Prime Minister, Dr. Baghdadi Mahmudi, as facilitated by the Libyan Foreign Minister, Mr. Musa Kosa.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the two countries revisited bilateral matters covering political, economic and cultural issues, the African Union as well as cooperation using the central and Saharan State umbrella (CEN-SAD).{nigerianbulletin}

New Surinamese President expresses appreciation for Leader of the Revolution.
Surname's new President Desi Bouterse expressed greetings and appreciation for the Leader of the Revolution and his keenness to establish a more solid friendship and cooperative relations between Great Jamahiriya and Surname at the different levels and in all areas.This was as he received the Secretary of the Libyan People's Bureau in Venezuela, non-resident Secretary of People's Bureau in Surname on Thursday.The new Surinamese president underscored during the meeting, which was held following his inauguration, the importance of exchanging reciprocal visits to realize the ambitions of the Surinamese and Libyan peoples so as to build futuristic cooperation foundations that would serve their interests and embody the south-south cooperation.{jananews}
